The Manatee Observation and Education Center is a waterfront wildlife observation and nature education center located on Florida's east coast in downtown Fort Pierce. The Center lies just west of the Atlantic Ocean and overlooks the nationally recognized Indian River Lagoon, a saltwater estuary and Moore's Creek, a freshwater creek and historical resting spot for the Florida manatee.
The endangered Florida manatee, also called a sea cow, can be viewed all year-round at the center. The center offers covered observation walkways and a second story observation tower for viewing the “Gentle Giants” as they play in Moore’s Creek. Outside the center, you might catch dolphins and pelicans hanging about. You can also take a stroll through the center’s butterfly garden. There are many hands on exhibits and information available about all these creatures and their habitats. There is so much to see and learn!
